The morning started with Leo Laporte commenting on how many people blog during keynote speeches. All the FiT guys are here and some are even using the EVDO sharing tip that George Starcher showed us during the last Typical Mac User Podcast.

Leo spoke of using the “podcast” name and some of the trademark controversy that is happening with Apple computers and the word “Podcast.” Leo said that he understands that “podcast” name is not going to away but there is an opportunity to see what alternatives there may be.

  • “iTunes was the best and worse thing that happened to Podcasting. It put us on the map, but then it owns us”
  • You don’t need an iPod to listen to an iPod and podcasters need to let folks know that.
  • likes the name Netcast because it is like casting a net. He is willing to help fund the trademarking of the name “Netcasting”
  • Right now its it not about competition it’s about cooperation. Right now job one is to make podcasting number one by growing the audience.
  • He mentioned that last year he said podcast your money and now this year he is taking advertisement for TWIT and other shows. The
  • The number one thing we have going is our “conversations with out audience.”
  • We still have no way or accurately measuring our numbers.
  • Get Microsoft to include an aggregator in Vista
  • Don’t copy the mistakes of the old media.
