Michelle and many people who listen to the show have a desire to learn things, and this is something that I really encourage. We can’t all start with all the skills we need to sound like we have been podcasting forever. I give my show to all of you on Sundays as we participate together and on occasions like my vacation with pleasure, because I know that WE are a community of people who are like minded.

So… I appreciate that Jimilee was open enough to express opinions (that is always good),even though the “Holy Crap” opening could have been better worded in my opinion. On the other hand as I stated I am one who believes that there is no substitute for growth and experience that we can only get by doing. Constructive criticism is always a good thing.

I will continue to encourage all of you to send me audio segments for the show, to participate in the show as without all of us there will be no show. Yes it’s my show and yes I am the primary contributor, however it is also your show (the collective) so conversations like this are encouraged as long as they do not turn into flame wars. If they do, then I will remove them and let the parties know, otherwise, lets keep healthy discussions going always.

Keep contributing folks, and let’s not be too harsh on Michelle, Jimilee or anyone else who wants to contribute in a positive manner.

No on calls a child unprepared or shouts expletives at them when they can’t ride a bike on the first few tries. Why should it be any different for someone that’s new to a particular technology or medium?

If you did not enjoy the content, then I’m sorry, and I will be back in full swing later this weekend. I do appreciate your honesty and hope you continue to listen and participate. Perhaps next time you can be part of the panel.

If you’re making a 6 gig movie you may also be stressing the file size that iMovie was intended to handle. I’m no editing expert but I do know that the more ‘pro’ apps are designed to take the fullest use of the computer they are using. Yes, there are much more expensive, but they may be better able to handle the size of project you’re throwing at it. Otherwise you may be having to split up the project into smaller pieces.

If you were to render out finished parts and then add them back in as clips that might also help. Or even cleaning up the clips, there should be a menu command for that. That will delete all the video bits you’re not using and that will reduce the size of your projects.

As for emulation on games, I have to agree that emulation for Windows games just is not good enough. Games like that should be made native on the Mac in my opinion. However, for a lot of the older arcade games like Space Invaders, Pong, and various other arcade games like this, I prefer to use MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator), specifically MacMAME on my iMac G5. While these do require the actual arcade ROMs, you can purchase them from some sites or if you’re daring enough you can find them online. Mind you, some of the ROMs are still covered under proprietary licenses by their manufacturers so I can’t say exactly where you can find them, but if you search around through Google you can come up with some hits.

Thanks to MacMAME, I can relive the days of my childhood when I used to visit the local pizza store to spend all my quarters on video games. And now I can do that at home with my boys on my Mac.
