310s Blog Day Picks

Filed under: TMUP Screencasts — Administrator @ 7:59 pm

As promised here are my picks for Blog Day

BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors.

Cooking For One: Recipes, Tips, Advice and Encouragement for Single Cooks

Daily Art: A new painting a day in either watercolors, oil paintings, or photography. She makes it then she sells it on E-Bay.

Fotopoemas-osselin: Photography and poetry. I wish I understood the language, but a great concept.

Elsies Yoga Kula: My friend Elsie blogs on Yoga, her podcast, Hindu philosophy and more

Wind It Up: Wind It Up is all about encouraging and inspiring people to take that broken appliance, or disposable object, and repurposing them, giving these pieces of ‘junk’ a new life.

Social Network Overload. I am Sooooo Done

Well that’s it. I am so done with these social networks.

imdone.jpg

Today I have cancelled the MySpace, Pownce, Facebook, and more to come. I’m keeping Twitter for now , but that’s it (notice no links)

Thanks to Kyle who had done a great job on the MySpace account. Too much SPAM and BACN. It was time to take ACTION!! I can’t lose myself in the process of being a blogger and podcaster. I have to keep it fun, cause if it’s not fun, then I’ll just quit.

Will you be next? Let me know your thoughts.

Pick of the Day: iSkin’s SOHO Laptop Sleeve

The folks over at iSkin sent me some products to review in the blog and the podcast over the next month or so. It’s always interesting to get products, and the first thing I look at is packaging. The SOHO had me from hello (did I just type that)

soho_banner.jpg

The iSkin SOHO Laptop Sleeve is one sexy beast. I got one for my Macbook that is all black with red colored stitching (like the picture above). Although the outside is simulated premium leather finish, it does not feel or look cheap in any way. Also the sleeve has a reinforced, outer Shell that makes it fit well under my arm like a portfolio. The SOHO also has iSkin specific features, like color-matching outside cover, padded lining and a zipper designed by iSkin that they call “Sure grip.” (more…)

FileChute one day special

Listener Marie who post comments all the time on the blog (thanks Marie), sent me an email telling me that FileChute is on special for one day for only $8.95. That’s a rocking deal on this software. Thanks for the tip Marie. You may have subscribe to the MacUpdate site to get this and other deals, but they are worth it. Remember this is NOT a paid ad. I just like to pass on the good words.

FileChute is a simple application that makes it very easy to send small or large files to another person across the Internet. If you’ve had problems sending large files via email (which is common), FileChute is an alternative solution.

My old VST Plugins

by: George Starcher, Associate Editor

Victor, Douglas E. Welch and I were hanging out on iChat tonight. You can see part of our conversations over on the FiT blog. Victor used CamTwist to send us over to uStream.

After we quit recording Victor had an idea on how to make my Compressor and Limiter work. The trick was to run the audio application under Rosetta. Just find the application (in this case Audio Hijack Pro). Hit Command-I to bring up the application information. Check the box Run in Rosetta.

My Migration Experience

by: George Starcher, Associate Editor

Well I took the plunge and got a new iMac 24″ last week. I like doing business with the Nashville Apple Store so I waited till they got some in stock. That took nearly a week after the first batch. Since they could not tell about future shipments etc I could only ask each day if they got more in. Once they did they were willing to place a unit on hold if you could come before close of business.

Once I got the new iMac home I hooked it to my G5 iMac 17″. Now I did make sure I updated every piece of software I could before doing this. I knew a couple of applications likely would not work once over due to not being Universal. But most everything did. It took about three hours to migrate via firewire cable. (more…)

310s Blog Day, sounds like a great idea

I’m going to participate this Friday in the Area Code 310s Blog Day being done by Blogday.org . I got news of this from Douglas E. Welch of Welchwrite.com and I think it’s a great idea. According to the BlogDay web site. . .

BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors.

So on Friday August 31st I will post recommendations of 5 new Blogs, that are different ffrpm this blog and have a different culture, point of view or attitude. All of you can then discover some new people and new bloggers. Great idea. Look for the post on Friday.
