.Mac – Personal Domain and Godaddy

Here is a quick sequence of shots showing where you need to make the cname entry change to aim a domain name over to your dotMac account. Keep in mind last night Victor and I made the observation. This only forwards http://www.mydomain.com over to your dotMac page. If someone enters http://mydomain.com they will NOT be forwarded. Sure this is hardly a complete method. But I think Apple is just going for convenience and home users looking to share things with each other and grandma. Give it at least an hour and make sure you do the Personal Domain setup under your Account settings in dotMac. That part is simple so I won’t provide screen shots here. So far right after an hour (the default time to live TTL from Godaddy) both sites I have helped foward work. Make sure you have actually published an iWeb site as well or it will be forwarding to a non existant page and you will get a page not found when you try and visit the site.

  • I've been with GoDaddy hosting for 2 years now and they've been great. Server uptime has been 99.8% and speeds are incredible. Rarely have I used their support system, when I do response times vary from 1 - 7 hours which is great.
