TMUP-Screencast-003: Get Rid of that Bounce

Filed under: TMUP Screencasts — Victor Cajiao @ 3:35 pm

Today I cover how to get rid of the annoying “Bouncing” icons in the dock.

As I learn this stuff I’m beginning to understand I need to put out several versions of the file. The only file that should download in iTunes is the Apple TV size. I don’t know how to get multiple media files into worpress and get RSS to validate. I do have ipod and itunes files of this available here

—————————————————-

Update 10PM Monday. I got a few emails stating that the version that came down on the feed did not work on Apple TV. I don’t know what happened but I have re-encoded it and tried it on my Apple TV and now it seems to work. It had worked before too, but I guess I must use the mov and not m4v  format for the Apple TV. The version I am putting on the RSS feed is the Apple TV version because it is very high quality and can be seen on your computer, your Apple TV or on the browser as well. I’m doing this on purpose. You can get iPod or iPhone versions here

Some folks are wondering about separate feeds etc. Guys I have to be honest here, I am very new at this Video stuff and I’m not trying to use all of you as Guinea Pigs. I am a “Typical Mac User” and if I don’t experiment with some real content I won’t learn and then I wont’ be able to put up any content.

So please be patient as I learn this stuff and get into a groove. I will learn it! I’m tenacious for sure. Maybe I will end up with a separate feed for the screencasts and videocasts, maybe I won’t. I have gotten good feedback on the content and that you like it. I know I can’t please everyone, so I won’t try.

So I’ll keep doing my thing and if the video content or screencasts become to much of a burden I’ll take a different path. It’s not meant to disturb or bug anyone. It’s meant to provide learning and growth for me and for all of you.

  1. Hi Victor? Will you take a screencast request?

If yes, I have a much needed video tutorial! I love the new iMovie 08, but I cannot work with music as easily in iMovie 08.

I exported my recent wedding video into Garageband, I figured out how to add the background music, but now I need to know how to fade in and fade out the music. I only need the song to play during the pre-wedding activities. I have a book on Grageband but believe it or not, it is not clear on this simple technique.

I bet there are a lot of iMovie 08 users who now have to get to know this simple function in Garageband. Would you do a short screencast on this basic function (i.e., once the movie track is in iMovie, how to add, cut, and work with music track and fades?).

I think it was your Pulp Fiction video that taught me the “ducking” feature? If I had not seen you do that, I would not have known how to make the background sound on the movie track go away!

Loving your screencasts! Sorry to be a burden — with yet another request!

  2. Great job on the screencasts! But if I could make a small comment… you have fallen for the I have to try everything in the opening sequence! You have scrolling logo’s and flashing logos and flipping text and fading text… too much all with great slower paced music that just doesn’t fit with the mood of the open. A more professional look would be to limit the logo to one effect and the text as well. Trust me- I have learned this the same way by having to try all those goodies in my first project too- but it’s better if we keep to the motto- less is more!
Keep up the great work!! The are very informative for us relative newbies!

  3. “A boy has to play with the new toys”That’s my response to the “I have to try everything in the opening sequence” comment. I will get better with time. I like the opening so… I may change it or not. I do appriciate all the comments however so thanks for taking the time. Keep It Simple is always good advice and so is less is more. However as I said, “a boy has to play with the new toys”
