Pick of the Day Launch Bar
I was introduced to LaunchBar by a series on Screencasts On Line a very long time ago. I used it for a while, then jumped on the Quicksilver bandwagon for a while. About 3 months ago I went back to LaunchBar and I’ve not gone back since. LaunchBar is a powerful, intuitive and award winning application launcher.
Today you can get it for 50% of over at Maczot.com. The normal price is $19.95, but today it’s $9.95. At that price it might be worth it for some of you to give it a try as an alternative to Quicksilver. Thanks to listener Marie for the suggestion.

Thanks for the heads-up on Launchbar, Victor. I decided to download the latest version (after not using it since its 2.x days) and was really impressed with how far (and FAST) Launchbar has come. I ended up installing Launchbar on both my Macs and registered both copies via MacZOT. At $9.95 per license, it’s a steal.

Thanks for the great tip Victor. I’ve been using QuickSilver as a launcher but just this weekend saw the MacWorld video podcast on launchbar and was intrigued. Seeing your post that it’s on MacZot for 50% off was all the motivation I needed. Just ordered my copy! I wouldn’t have seen this otherwise, thanks for the tip!

I tried LaunchBar, Quicksilver and Namely. I chose namely because I only needed an app launcher that was light, didn’t use much memory and started up quickly when turning on my mac.

Launchbar was one of the first apps I tried when I first got my Macbook Pro (my first Mac) because of a review that you (Victor) had done on it way back when…. I liked it, but once I tried Quicksilver I was hooked. And haven’t looked back since. Both apps do a great job of “Finding and Launching Applications” quickly… but its all the extras & plugins that Quicksilver has that has won me over.

I tried QS but found that it was just too much for my basic needs. I then tried LaunchBar and have been happy with it ever since,\. A great product and well worth the $20 that I originally paid. At $10 its a steal.
