  1. I like this episode very much. I learned something I didn’t know about Apple and the Newton. Thanks!

  2. Hey Victor. Loved listening to this live episode.

One other clarification: It was mentioned that “Wallstreet” was the PowerBook 5300. That is incorrect. The “Wallstreet” PowerBook was the 2nd generation PowerBook G3. The first PowerBook G3 is called “Kanga” and is the one that shared the same cosmetic design as the PowerBook 3400.

Folllowing the PowerBook G3 “Wallstreet” was “Wallstreet II” which included some updated models to the “Wallstreet”, “Lombard” which introduced USB ports, and “Pismo” (the last PowerBook G3) which introduced Firewire ports.

BTW, I also got to play around with the eMate when I was working as a tech for another school years ago. I thought it was a great concept for someone who needed something to take notes on either in a classroom or a similar setting and the battery life was pretty awesome for its time. I guess you could say that Palm’s defunct Foleo harks back to what the eMate was like. Too bad that the Foleo was poorly priced and competing with a bunch of other solutions that even make the eMate unnecessary. Still, for us nostalgics it’s definitely a useful companion to your retro Mac. :-)
