It is now enabled here. I’m having some trouble wrangling all the messages and getting things where I want, but it is up and running here.

It’s enabled here. Now envision syncing an IMAP account with 16,000 msgs. It’s TOO slow.

Yes , too slowly. I don’t have it yet either. It’s hit and miss.

I just checked my gmail account and the option does not appear to be available to me. Is this being slowly rolled out?

I am using it now. It works great. You can see all your old messages and it updates your gmail inbox when you read an email on your iphone. It’s great!

This is great news. I haven’t used Aple Mail so far because Gmail lacked IMAP support. Looks like I can make this switch too!
