This Sunday’s Talkshoe show will be the Typical Mac User Group (TMUG)

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS: After talking to Katie about this more I want to make sure it’s understood that this is NOT meant to be an addition to the Typical Mac User Podcast.  As a matter of fact it does NOT even have to be called TMUG. It’s meant to start, kick-off and pursue a virtual MUG that uses technologies like Talkshoe and can bring people together.

The idea is for this virutal MUG be organized like a regular MUG. We would decide on a meeting date (once per month hopefully), and a meeting time. I am not stuck on Sunday’s before or after my show.

Of people who participate often in the live show I know that Katie, Michael, Steve Stanger and probably Dororthy (minimally) have MUG experience. So the bottom line is that this Sunday may become a recorded conversation about this , but it may or my not go out as a regular show. You can read the original post below.

ORIGINAL POST:

As I was talking to Steve Stanger from The MacAttack Podcast he said how the post shows almost seem like a Mac User Group’s (MUG’s). That triggered me to suggest that perhaps we could meet often as one time per month and create a virtual MUG.

I’ve never been part of a MUG so I will need help from all of you (the rest of the members of the virtual MUG). I know we have listeners like Katie from The MacCore Podcast and others who have experience in this area. I need to maintain the quality of the audio and education that you guys have come to expect, however I think we can use the TMUG to have some of you do audio presentations (perhaps with accompanying Keynote presentations) etc.

This s is purely and experiment.

  2. Count me in! Great idea Victor. Though I sadly may miss this Sunday’s TMUP due to family obligations over the long weekend. I’ll just have to play it by ear.

  4. I think it would be fun Victor. I’ll try to attend as many as I can.

So this would be directly after the show? Maybe? You would record it and it would be a podcast or is it just for who ever attends that live “show”?

I think it sounds cool Victor.

Thanks for wanting to give to us more.

  5. I would say something you should install if you are worried about the leopard firewall is little snitch. Its a great app that works on app to app base like they talked about on this podcast.

  7. I think a TMUG is a great idea. I would try to attend as often as possible. However, this Sunday 11/11 is my birthday and we may have family things planned that will keep me from the computer.

  11. Yes I’m not making any promises at all, but I can promise some of us will at least learn more about MUGS and how to set them up, what they are about etc.
