My Apple “real TV rumor may not be so crazy

On Sunday I made what Veronica Belmont said on her blog was “a crazy prediction that has to do with AppleTV predictions about a real Apple TV potential at Macworld.”

Well Apple Matters now reports

“Meanwhile, the Apple TV is expected to see changes in 2008 that “could include an LCD display”. Other notes include scarce information about the long rumored sub-notebook from Apple with the possibility it may be delayed due to design issues.”

Could I be crazy as a fox? We will see. Probably, however I do have fun this time of year. Just remind the big boys who said it first.

  1. Man, I would love something like this. As I have written on Careers in Podcasting and New Media, we need to get our shows “On TV”…meaning on the D**N box that everyone already knows how to operate.

Fingers crossed for your prediction, Victor and as many other different devices like it.

  2. You know we still have the old school 27″ box TV, but if Apple made a LCD I would be seriously tempted.

  3. I have to disagree…I think you’ll see Apple add a DVD player to the AppleTV along with full support for movie rentals through iTunes but the average consumer isn’t going to give up the ability to choose from the wide selection of LCD TVs out there just to get to choose from a few Apple branded ones. I wouldn’t and I’ve been an Apple fanboy since 1984 (although they almost lost me in the late ’90s).

  4. I disagree Mr C, we already have the device in the form of iMacs. But then again you have been known to posses super natural prediction powers ;-)

I like Craig would love to see a (HD) DVD drive, that would be fantastic!!

  5. Haha Simon we will see. I think it’s a crazy guess too. But this is the time of year for it.

  6. Well!

So Steve Jobs wanted to make his own phone for a number of reasons, one being that people(including himself) were not happy with their phones and how they functioned.

what is the next thing people do not enjoy using?!

    Set top boxes and TVs

A Apple TV with Wifi and a HDD (Sorry no HD DVD for you! ) would be very nice, with a Movie rental service etc

Even though I think Apple are interested in Blu-Ray, I don’t think they would put the hardware into a product like this, I think they would rather stay with Digital rentals/pay per item downloads for a product of this nature.

But I think in Computers they will go with Blu-Ray obviously, and not HD DVD

  7. Good points James. It’s alway fun to see what happens next. Thanks for taking the time to comment. The next thing I’m not happy with is this California traffic, may Steve can do an iHeli to get me to work faster.

  8. Development of digital technologies occurs prompt rates. Does not lag behind progress and digital TV. Speaking about digital TV, we first of all mean satellite TV. The digital satellite TV becomes more and more accessible to simple users. The market paid satellite tv also is not necessary on a place. The new digital standard of TV of high clearness HDTV actively develops and takes root. The satellite TV becomes more and more directed on the spectator. Besides digital quality of the image, advantage of satellite systems also is also the extensive cover zone of the companion.
