ERRATA: During the show I mention that you can manually index a drive by going to the “Get Info” window. Listener Jim questioned me on this and I simply made a mistake on this. Here is an article from Apple on how to rebuild an index of a drive. My apologies and thanks Jim for catching it.

How To Specify Criteria in Spotlight
Using the Spotlight Search Field
The 2nd annual Mac Podcaster Meetup at Macworld (next Thursday)

Hey Victor, Great Segment! You taught me things that I had no idea could be done in spotlight. I thought you could just search for things. I didn't know you could specify the criteria you mentioned. Really good stuff.
I wanted to point out something I found out by trial and error. You mentioned using the cmd+enter to open the selected file in the spotlight results. I found out that you can still use the same keystroke to open the folder that the file is inside of. I have many times searched for an Application or a file or folder so that I can drag it to the Dock. Instead of clicking through the finder trying to find it, I just search in Spotlight and when it's highlighted in Spotlight I press cmd+enter and it opens the folder where that file is residing. Then I drag it to the dock. Very Handy.
Take Care.
Jim

Hey Jim glad you liked the segment and part 2 (next week) gets even more geeky. Good point about cmd+enter and yuo sir are correct. That's why I love comments on the blog, we all learn together. Thanks for taking the time.
