  1. Looks great Victor and a cheap option for recording on the go for those who don't want to spend lots of money, I'd love to be able to record whilst doing my reffing, anyone know of a unit like this that can record wireless, or an even smaller unit that can be carried and have a small collar mic attached?

  2. @Gazmaz: For recording while running, I use an iRiver IFP-790 with a compatible Giant Squid Audio Lab omnidirectional mono lapel mic and Creative EP-630 noise canceling earbuds for monitoring the sound. I put the iRiver on a waist belt, and guide the wires under my running shirt. I've recording two (Dutch language) podcast episodes with this.

You probably will have to filter out the wind noise with a high-pass filter at 80 Hz in your audio editor afterwards, or use a mic that has a built-in rumble-canceling filter (cuts everything below 80 Hz).

  3. I've been to Belkin's website, and at the moment they have no information on the Podcast Studio (or if they do, they're hiding it well), though they do have info on the TuneStudio, which is a more upscale (and more expensive by $150.00) version.

As for Gazmaz's question about a smaller unit that can be carried and have a small collar mic attached, there's Belkin's TuneTalk, which Victor reviewed on 7/29/06, though its gain controls are limited to an on/off Auto-Gain switch which boosts the input and selecting between 22.05kHz or 44.1kHz on the iPod itself. I know there are other iPod mics, but I have no experience with them.
