As promised video of me replacing the standard two gigabyte of memory on a MacBook Pro, with four gigabytes. This is the first time, I’ve done this. The video is only five minutes, but the whole unedited process took about ten minutes total.

  • Where did you get that desktop picture? It looks really cool.

Wow, I thought the MacBook was easy! The Pro is at least as easy, if not more so.

A suggestion: unless one really needs to recoup their investment in the new memory. I always keep my original memory for 1) troubleshooting 2) to put back in case you ever need to take in for service or in case Apple needs to send it off.

Nice video. I have now upgraded memory in two Macbooks and one Dell (hold the boos) laptop. it is truly an easy exercise, and one that provides returns worthy of the investment. Its just too bad that you can't order the Macs with ZERO memory, since what comes with it is basically of little use other than an insurance policy in the even you have a memory failure. While I'm sure they happen, I haven't seen or experienced any. When I bought my memory upgrade from OWC, they did offer a trade in on my old memory, but it was some ridiculous number like 8 dollars, which wouldn't even cover the postage to send it back to them.

Anyway, thanks. The ease with which you swapped out the memory should serve to convince newbies that this is ALMOST on a par with basic maintenance, and that they shouldn't be afraid to try it.
