I am at the Apple Final Cut World Tour today. Here is a picture of the RED camera. First time I’ve seen one of these up close. The output picture from this thing is incredible. Ok so who can donate about $40,000 to get it?

I’ll upload more photos on Flickr later. You can see the few I’ve taken so far here.

Review – Guardian Maximus RAID Drive Enclosure

Filed under: Hardware Reviews — George Starcher @ 4:18 pm

We received a very nice external drive unit from OWC (Aka macsales.com). It is the Guardian MAXimus RAID 1 drive enclosure. You can order either just the enclosure itself or with a variety of drive sizes. The unit holds two drives and sets up a mirror between them. Mirroring across two drives ensures your data is still accessible if one of the drives fails. It is also kinda fun watching the synchronized drive activity lights when dumping large amounts of data onto the unit.

Something Other Than Front Row?

Originally an app for a Hacked Xbox (original), some hard working hackers have brought the XMBC (Xbox Media Center) to the Mac as a replacement for Front Row. Feature full and works with the Apple Remote too..

XBMC For Mac: XBMC Turns Your Mac into the Ultimate Media Center

You don’t have to mod your classic Xbox to run the best free media center application around anymore: Dedicated developers have ported the Xbox Media Center (XBMC) software to the Mac, and its killer features will convince you to abandon Front Row forever. The latest XBMC on OS X beta dropped last week, and it’s as stable and useful as ever. Dubbed the “throw out your Xbox” release, XBMC for Mac 0.5 beta 1 adds the key feature that finally puts your media center Mac under the TV where it belongs: remote control support. Let’s take a look at how you can (and why you want to) replace Front Row with XBMC on your Mac.

The Inquisitrclaims to have scoop on video for the iPhone

Ducan Riley’s former writer for TechCruch now has the new and wonderful website The Inquisitr and I would say one of their first big scoops if it turns out accurate. They claims to have someone whispering in their ears  some very specific details on the upcoming 3G iPhone. Interesting to note that their source claims that “The iPhone to be launched in June will support an enhanced camera that supports video.”

I wanted to introduce you to The Inquisitr and what better way to do it then with an Apple relelated story. No matte what, Ducan is one of the most prolific and talented writer on the internet and you should subscribe to the rss in my opinion.

I made the switch to VMware

Filed under: Podcasts — Victor Cajiao @ 6:12 am

I made a decision yesterday to let go of Parallels Desktop for Mac and choose VMware Fusion as my gateway to all Microsoft thing on my Mac.

Vmware just the Beta of Fusion 2.0 and made it  available to download and try for free. I have owned Fusion on my Macbook Pro for about eight months, and love it’s flexibility, and that it’s not a CPU hog. This new version of Fusion  includes support for multiple displays (since I have to of them, I’ve been waiting for this), improved printer integration, as well as easier to manage networking, and USB support. Lastly VMware has made some improvements to Unity (which runs Windows applications integrated within OS X).

Although switching from Parallels to VMWare should have been easy. Thanks to our “friends” in Redmond it was not.OIn next weeks show you will hear a piece that I recorded after fighting with Vista for 3.5 hours! It was not pretty, and the piece I recorded is bound to amuse some of you as I have not been this frustrated since back in the days I used the “other” OS. Make sure you listen next Wednesday as you should not have to go through this experience yourself.

Vaja case defect

A few weeks ago I wrote a post showing you my new Vaja iPhone Case. I had this case made and it was a bit over $100.00 U.S. They take about 30 days to make and are very nice indeed.

This has been a great case, with fabulous design and until just a few days ago craftsmanship. I noticed that the stitching on one of the sides was coming off (see picture). I wrote to Vaja and was given approval to return the case. They are going to make me a new case but it looks like I will have to wait again. I am surprised that a case of this price would have this issues. Vaja assured me that this is very rare and that I should be satisfied with the new case.

I am writing this to let you know the whole story. This was not a review unit I paid full retail. So I’ll follow up once I get the new case.
