Thanks for the in-depth review of PGP this week.
I had already purchased this product last week to test myself and have been very impressed so far.
I did however have to post to the PGP support forum at http://tinyurl.com/42noxx as the product doesn't seem to match any of the products on their site.
The main confusion for me is the inclusion of the Email encryption facility but it only works for incoing messages! so is pretty useless on this version – they should remove it from the program if it is not active.
Keep up the good show.

Well I would not call that useless since someone else with PGP mail encryption can send to you. But I would not have expected it to do mail at all if it did not have the messaging feature. Their product line is very confusing. Maybe that will improve.

That's why i said 'pretty useless'
Because if someone sends you an encrypted message, chances are you'd want the reply to be encrypted also.
Yes, here's hoping they make the product line a little clearer.

Hey Guys,
I really enjoyed the PGP episode. I am interested in getting the whole disk encryption product, but I am hesitant for this reason: I am self employed and I use an iMac when I am at home, and I use a MacBook when I am out of the house. Typically, I spend about the same amount of time working from each machine. For this reason, I depend on Back to My Mac and Sugarsync.com to keep both machines virtually identical as far as my user files and settings are concerned.
Will using PGP whole disk encryption on one or both machines cause problems with my syncing of files? Will I need PGP on both machines? Also will there be any conflicts between the two? In short will I have any problems accessing synced files or will encryption have any effect at all since the syncing happens presumably when the machines are unencrypted and in use?

Hi, George Once again excellent podcast. I have few questions.
1) What is the main difference between true crypt vs PGF in terms of whole disk encryption.
2) Right now I am using Mac OS x inbuilt sparse image technique. to encrypt o a folder where I keep all my important files like passwords and bank accounts. My understanding is no one can decrypt with out having an access to password for that dmg. If I want to secure onyl one or two fiolders is it ok to continue what I am doing? Or do I need to switch to either true crypt or PGF?
Thanks you once again for the podcast.

Hi Chin,
As I mentioned in the show. PGP can encrypt the OS disk. Truecrypt cannot. Yes for just a few folders an encrypted dmg file which is also what filevault is, can work. Except filevault is meant to be transparent to the user and do the entire home folder.
