How To Properly use Time Machine (by Knightwise)

Knightwise – One quick comment. I do understand your point about the way Time Machine makes back ups but you DO want to use two separate drives if you are doing redundant backups. It's like the old saying “Don't put all of your eggs in one basket”. If that one drive goes bad there goes all of your file back ups.

    I love the show

Love the show, but cringe when you focus on TimeMachine, the worst thing Apple has thrust upon us in a long time (IMHO). After initially using TM for a month, tried three seperate times to execute Restore. All failed. The next month TM started crashing my MacBook when it neared the end of any backup. After spending a weekend trying to resolve, I said “F- it” and am now happily churning along using CarbonCopy to mirror the drive periodically, and iBackup using a two-drive RAID configuration for frequent backups. And amazingly enough, both options survived the “will it Restore” when TM failed miserably. But, again, love the show! LOL

I've had some terrible experiences with TM too and have felt that same “F” I think that many use it successfully and I thought that Knightwises segment at least spoke to a way that it can work. I have to focuse on the needs of the many for the show and try to stay balanced. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
