TMUV: Review and Video of Blue Icicle Mic Preamp

I show you, and use the Blue Icicle Mic Preamp found at http://www.bluemic.com . This combination video (shot in HD with the Nikon D90) and screencast demonstrates the setup and usage of this very nice device. I would buy and recommend this device.

The video piece was a nice touch – I love being able to not only hear about new gear, but to see it in action as well. Nice work on throwing in a few video shows to the podcast stream – and also in having the courtesy to keep things relatively brief to prevent against massive downloads of hour long shows or something =)

Nice job, Victor. It's also fun to learn more about the D90's video capabilities.

I haven't invested in any XLR microphones [yet], however I do have some nice condenser mikes with 1/8″ stereo connectors that use external power. I've been able to capture some extremely good audio on a 5th gen iPod by plugging these condenser mikes into a Belkin TuneTalk Stereo. The files then easily sync to iTunes.

Now I've got an iPod Touch; the TuneTalk works with the free “VoiceNotes” app to record sound but it's pretty clumsy.

Is there a “best practice” for recording quality audio onto an iPod Touch or iPhone?

    Best,

    George
