In fact, before the release of HDMI 1.4 standard, HDMI cable itself does not have any version of a say. The so-called HDMI 1.3a/b/c only the signal level for the specification and the hardware structure of the cable itself is not in any way. This means that if want to buy non-cable HDMI 1.4 version, in fact, are the same, do not need to listen to the version of the so-called one said JS. nhttp://www.espow.com/wholesale-entertainment-home-theater-hdmi-display-port-hdmi-switches-splitters.html

I was looking at monoprice's description of the mini displayport to hdmi adapter. It says that the VESA spec for the mini displayport can include audio, if the manufacturer of the output device includes it.
Does anyone know if the Mac's Mini Displayport includes audio?
This would allow you to use this adapter for a direct audio/video input from the new macs via an HDMI cable, which would be nice.

Steve, you mentioned on the show that you would post notes on how to enable 5.1 audio on the Mac. You mentioned there was a way to activate it in Quicktime and Front Row. However, I don't see any link here for those directions. Thanks.

About a day or two after recording this show Monoprice announced that they will be selling a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a few other Mini DisplayPort adapters. This is great news and a great 3rd party solution for those of you who have newer Macs and want to connect them to your TV.

More info here - http://tinyurl.com/c49enx
