I replied to you over on my blog. But do a chmod 600 on your id_rsa file.

Great tutorial George!  I have a related question.  Is there a way to create a system wide key?  I have a server at work that needs to be logged into as a certain user.  My plan was to setup a jump server with key authentication.  It will be much easier to maintain a system key than individual keys.

I don’t believe there is a system wide key. You would simply have to issue duplicates of the key to each user. For server to server automated processes folks tend to generate a key with no passphrase as that avoids interaction needing a password. The risk is if someone gets the keyfile they can log in so you have to lock it down and monitor access logs etc tightly.
