TMUPS:006 Partitioning a new Hard Drive

Filed under: TMUP Screencasts — Administrator @ 4:50 pm

In this short Screencast I show you how to partition a brand new hard drive.

I’m having a whole discussion in my head (and with a few of you), about having my content in a separate feed. Given the time it takes to do all of this, I don’t have time to give you this content and create separate feeds etc. However I am putting the main content of these shows on Blip.tv and they have a feed for my show. If you want to subscribe to the Typical Mac User Blip.tv Video feed you can do so here

I really need you guys to have some patience with me if you want any video content.  I always believe that honesty is the best policy. So for now, keep looking in your iTunes feed for videos and also look in the new Typical Mac User Blip.tv Video feed. That way you won’t miss any content I put out. Also provide feedback on the content that I am giving. I’m having a blast learning how to use this technology and using it to share stuff with you guys. Thank you all for continuing to be subscribed and for listening and watching my show.

UPDATE 12/14/07: Apple has now made all of this very easy in Garage Band. Here is how.

Today I cover how to use Garage Band to make and optimize ringtones for the iPhone.
I am publishing the highest quality and resolution file on the feed and here for the blog. This is on purpose, because I feel that I need to present the highest quality product that I can. It is optimized for Apple TV and streaming. This file will not work on your iPod or iPhone

If you want the iPod or iPhone files you can go here to this page. These files are meant to be downloaded and played on your iPod or iPhone.

Side note: I originally posted this show on Amazon S3 network but soon (very soon) found the bill was getting too high. With about 33% of my audience downloading the show I was almost at $20 US for one show. So I have moved the main file and upgraded my Libsyn account. It was a good experiment however

Pick of the Day Launch Bar

Filed under: TMUP Screencasts — Administrator @ 3:51 am

I was introduced to LaunchBar by a series  on Screencasts On Line a very long time ago. I used it for a while, then jumped on the Quicksilver bandwagon for a while. About 3 months ago I went back to LaunchBar and I’ve not gone back since. LaunchBar is a powerful, intuitive and award winning application launcher.

Today you can get it for 50% of over at Maczot.com. The normal price is $19.95, but today it’s $9.95.  At that price it might be worth it for some  of you to give it a try as an alternative to Quicksilver. Thanks to listener Marie for the suggestion.
